Easy Ways To Eat Healthy in College
College is an important time in a young adult’s life, and it is important that you are healthy and happy to enjoy this time to its fullest. Here are some simple tips that will make eating healthy a lot easier in college.
Get a good size fridge – To stock up on healthy fresh foods, you will need to invest in a good quality fridge that has enough space to stock up on lean meats, vegetables, and fruits. A good fridge would also mean that you can cook your meals weekly, to ensure you maintain a healthy weight and stay within budget. If you cant, afford a fridge, stock up on healthy food with a long shelf life like nuts, seeds, dried fruit, rice cakes, and multi-grain crackers.
Always take the fruit – If your college offers a dining hall, make sure you pick up some fruit to go. Remember that you are paying for the fruit, so taking it with you is a good way to add more nutrition to your diet.
Eat high-quality junk food – If you must eat junk food, avoid the fries and ice cream and have something like a high-fat pastry or portion of lasagna. Although you will be eating the same amount of calories, you will find that you are more satisfied and less likely to be hungry later.
Listen to your body – If you find yourself hungry at odd times at night, consider if you are getting sufficient calories during the day. Look at foods that are sustaining and always look at adding protein to all your meals.
