Night Owls Do Better Than Morning Lark In General Intelligence, A University Of Madrid Study Reveals

People who tend to sleep late tend to be better than those who sleep early at qualities such as general intelligence, and which includes inductive reasoning as well as conceptual and analytical thinking.

This study was conducted by researchers at the University of Madrid who followed 1000 teenagers, and also concluded that these ‘night owls’ might not do as well as morning larks in school but tend to outshine their counterparts when they join the workforce much later.

In attempting to explain the Spanish study, a professor of psychophysiology at Loughborough University, Jim Horne said, “Evening types tend to be the more extrovert creative types, the poets, artists and inventors, while the morning types are the deducers, as often seen with civil servants and accountants. They will probably be good at cryptic crosswords, while morning types go for the more logical ones.”

In fact, the study goes on to suggest that early risers in the morning tend to find success as civil servants and accountants while the ones who sleep late tend to demonstrate traits that will bring them success at work while also fetch them higher incomes.

Two other studies corroborated this evidence with the first revealing that not only are late risers better at lateral thinking but also made substantial paychecks while also enjoying all the good things that Life have to offer: a home and vehicle of their own and even lesser work.

With that said, another study published in the journal Emotion revealed that those who do get up early tend to be happier than those who stay awake at night.
